Saying that some opinions attributed to him in an article ["Enqête sur la musique moderne italienne"] in that day's issue of Comœdia do not accurately express his thoughts: the "ton de querelle" seems to him discourteous; to lump together all Italian music in the verismo school betrays an "ignorance coupable" (there could be things of distinction in that school); etc.
